So, after finding the base design idea for my fursona, I set out to create my fursona, ref sheet and everything. Instead of finishing him and posting the ref sheet like it’s no big deal, I decided to make the whole creation and revealing of my fursona a special occasion, setting the release date to my 15th birthday. The fact that I started designing him in November meant I had a lot of time for the April release, but it only took until early January of 2017 for me to have the ref sheet in a pretty much complete state, only making minor adjustments till the release. With the creation part out of the way, only thing left to do is the reveal, and the build-up towards the 7th of April. I made teasers in form of showing only the tail with the date above it and made posts counting down the days from 7 to 1 in form of a gif that had the silhouette flash in for a split second. Looking back at it, it’s a bit cringe and probably annoyed one or two of my followers. I turned 15, and my fursona was shown to the world. Taking a critical look at this ref sheet again, it’s a mess to look through, has too much stuff on it and I gave him unnecessary gimmicks that ended up being used once each in art pieces and then never again, of which I would later remove all but the Tron Disc. In terms of looks I’d say it’s not too bad, a proud showing of my Photoshop skills, but in terms of composition and everything else, not my proudest art piece. By the way, you can probably tell that my art style, or at least the way I drew Nex, is heavily inspired by Vivziepop.
