The bible says that all have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God.
That means that we are all the exact same. We all make mistakes, we all want to be loved, and we all wish to have friends, and all have dreams, hopes, desires, and like to laugh at jokes. Everyone likes to listen to the rain and curl up by a fire on a cold rainy night. We are all human...
Im a christian. The bible also says that we are to love others to Christ. Weare supposed to love others in such a way that it makes them ask...whats different about it. We are supposed to love in such a way that people ask about why. THATS how we are to lead others to Christ. Its not our job to 'fix' people. Its GOD'S job. We are here to point the way. By our love. Gay equality.

Aye. I was one of the lucky few whose parents accepted them (bisexual). Although, that aside, I still have to hide said fact from other family members. Why should I have to hide who and what I am because "nobody wants any trouble"? So, does that mean that, despite having loved me regardless before, now my family will all shun me? *Long sigh* It's no surprise my parents call me anti-social. My mother, bless her, has a difficult time understanding the concept of being bi, but she actually puts forth effort into understanding. She's also Catholic.
Ya know I uderstand how easy it is to begin to look down on gay and bi people. Ill be honest and say I have to continue to remind myself that I am still flawed, and I am still called to love them regardless of what they have done. I have grown up in a christian home, where my parents dont believe the exact same as I do. My father hates gays and bis because he says its perverted. Excuse me when I say that I agree with him on that point. If I claim to be a christian, I must accept the bible as true. The bible says that men are to be with women, etc. So by that, homosexuality and bisexuality would be considered a perversion. PLEASE do not take offense to me, Im simply stating my beliefs, I have nothing against you or anything like that. Where my father and I differ is that he is against THEM where I am against it. Like I said before I actually have some really good friends who are gay. I dont really think it is right, but I do think that it is human. its still sin and as far as Im concerned thats really all that matters. Because its still sin, it means that I am still commanded to love them because I myself have sinned and by that logic am still the same as them. Are still the sam as you. Does that make sense?
Thats right. As christians it is our duty to lift each other up and, in a loving way, point out to our brothers, their sins, so that it can be addressed. I bet if you walk up to most gay people, and you ask them if christians approve of homosexuality, the answer will be no. My point in saying that is simply that they dont need christians continuing to cram how wrong they are down their throats. That obviously doesnt work and nor does it even make them want to take christians seriously or to even consider changing their ways. Thats why I make the point that everything we do HAS to be out of love. Thats how we get pthers attention and get them to care about hearing us out. And then we let them know what we believe. We dont continue to shove it and condemn them. Its not even our job to condemn them. *sigh* sometimes I wonder why nobody seems to get that ya know?
Actually...I wont. From the christian perspective, a sin is a sin is a sin. God still counts sins as huge and not good, but the bible says that if I hate my neighbor, I commit murder in my heart. If someone cuts me off on the highway, and I flip them off and think about how much of a douchebag that person is, I have just committed the sin of murder. which is the equivalent of cheating on your girlfriend/boyfriend. which is the equivalent of stealing a pencil from someone who isnt looking. Its all equal in Gods eyes. Murderers need friends too. Admittedly its hard to talk to them seriously, if your fear they are to kkill you. But that just means that they are even more alone then anyone else because they are continuously being alienated ^^
Its actually become a lot more apparent to me now that I am in college, it seems like God has really been putting me in situations where that continues to be the lesson for me to learn haha.
And thank you for being understanding and not un-watching me when I started going mini preacher on ya ^^ Im not a preacher or anything but I know that as soon as christian+beliefs go in the same sentence, people get all huffy and stuff

well kinda...except that Christ gave christians a command: Go forth and make disciples of all nations etc.
That alone actually means we cant just stop with the 'I believe' part. I agree that I want to be able to get along, and Im all about letting you know how I feel and what the bible says about different views and stuff, not that Im like a scholar(Ive been a christian for a long time, but Ive only been a Christ follower for under a year). I wont force it down your thrat but I am called to let everyone know what I believe and why.

nope, I have a college group at our church tho...its the first year because they have never had enough people stay with the church after graduating from highschool and consequently leaving the youth group and then the church when they move away. Lol I learn from some of the stronger christians in my group. Its awesome because I know that they read the bible and always keep things in context and stuff. We have lots of discussions about different things but this is the one that we all agree on.
I actually hang out at the BSM which is the Babtist student ministry up at Unt-University of North Texas =3 There are a lot of fun people there and we all think that those guys who got out with mega phones and spout that everyone is going to hell on top of a bench, is doin it wrong. VERY wrong. Lots of use there feel the same about loving people to christ. We actually have a couple gay people that help us in our evangelism!! I personally think thats super cool, by his own admission, its not that now that hes a christian he isnt allowed to be gay. He knows that more than likely he will always have the feelings and tendencies, but, again by his ownadmission, " the bible says that God made man and women and he made them to be together. He made thhem to love each other. If he made them that way, then homosexuality is more of an act based on your thoughts and tendencies. If God made me incapable of falling in love with a girl, then that means that I would be incapable of love as he meant it."
That was one of the most inspiring things Ive possibly ever heard. Because he doesnt deny being gay, and nor does he deny that he does in fact like guys. WHat he does say is that he loves because Jesus first loved him. Its because of all that God has done in his life and the way HE has used him in everyday life, that he has decided to act against his own tendencies. He says that its hard, but he knows that God can obviously overcome that. He says slowly but surely he feels that God is changing his heart and his outlooks.
It was a very inspiring conversation because what he basically was saying is that it doesnt matter what he does, because God is SO MUCH bigger than him. He believes that its not anything we do that makes him love us, but because of his unending mercy and grace, that he loves us despite ourselves, despite our sick nasty and broken state, and changes us from the inside out. It because of this love that he is able to talk to other gay people and show them that he is the exact same as them, just with a different motivation and drive behind him. He has that opportunity to talk from experience and understand things that I dont completely understand ya know?

It's interesting how often religion gets cited as a reason for intolerance. I don't think religion has as much influence on those types of notions. I think that religion is a tool for looking at the world. A tool that has limitless facets, and just as many different means of use. One person's Christianity varies so profoundly from another's. Who's to say that Christianity is a reason behind X or Y phenomenon in culture?
My own religious beliefs do influence how I interact with the world around me, and how I perceive everything. But those beliefs are founded on my own notions of how the world works. The religious portion comes from what would be revelation, but the foundation is on my own understanding of the world around me, or reason. So reason led to revelation. Fffff I can't escape Medieval Philosophy!
THE POINT BEING, people are going to hate on gays whether they're Christian or not. The jerkfaces.

thats just my point actually. Christians is literally translated little Christ(or is it Christ folower, I dont know lol and I said literally). If we are to be little christs that implies we kinda have to strive to be like him. and the only way to even learn about him is through the bible...which means its biblical evidence. Christians should be concerned about following the bible and about holding to its truths. Christians should be the ones the gays, and murderers, and thiefs flock to. Because Christ hung out with the lowly. He came to save the broken and lost. Who is more broken than those who are persecuted? Shoot the christians are called to love murderers just the same as we love the religious preachers. I believe that you are right, there will always be haters, and some of them wil be christians. My point is simply that It SHOULDNT be that way.
