Well, after taking time after posting the first picture, here I go with this one. And this is going to be another talk, although, this....this is going to be about his conformation and the breed.
Seems like a fair number of Ibizan Hound breeders in the states seem to be breeding for light, sight hound type Ibizans. Not really my preference personally. You do see the lighter types in Ibiza, but...I haven't seen but a few in comparison to the heavier ones in videos from the hunts over there. Dunno.
Ibizans are not a sight hound. The AKC classifies them as a sighthound, but...
Ibizans hunt by sight, scent, and sound, and are more of a primitive, feral type dog....a tri-hound if you will. They are supposed to use their noses, and be able to put them to or close to the ground, so it makes sense that they shouldn't be too much leg.
They are supposed to be thick skinned, unlike the majority of sight hound breeds that can easily get tears from bumping into something. If you watch videos of Ibizans hunting in Spain, you'll see, the land is not flat, nor is it 'clean'. It's very brush filled and hilly. The breed is noted for their jumping ability, 6-8ft high or long from a stand still! This is because they will look, listen, and then pounce through it to get to rabbits, the animal they are most used on. The breed is also known for sometimes being used as a gun dog, and will freeze and 'point' at birds.
So here you have Dali, whose parents were two Ibizans imported from Spain. His shoulders are moderately straight, but do not look as if they are paddles for a boat, nor do they look as if they are coming away from his body. He was a substantial dog, and his chest did not look as if it came from a Saluki. The breed is to be flat muscled, and have a slight roman nose. His neck was not thin, actually his collar size was 14-16, and I could wear his, as he could wear mine.
I say this breed is rectangular and angular, as it seems to be the main shapes they are based off of, but the way I describe things can often be taken wrong.
Their tails will drop completely when relaxed, and will start to curl at the end, and raise depending on excitement. When running, the breed stretches out, and when hunting, they are 'creative coursers', always trying to cut around their prey.
Dali may not has been perfect, as no dog is conformation wise, but he was pretty true to the breed as it is in Spain.

Yeah, I don't know exactly what is up with the recent trends, but I still worry it has to do with them being classified as sight hounds. Though Pharaoh Hounds don't seem to have this issue.
I've been almost tempted to get into Thai Ridgebacks. There's some really nice ones being bred currently, and they haven't been muddle with too much.
