this dude is the same species as the previous critter, but they belong to a different, more specialized biological caste. They’re sturdier and armored with pangolin-like scales, and they have eyes-- tiny, myopic ones that are best at detecting changes in light, but enough to make navigating the surface world a bit easier. In the past, members of this caste defended the colony from violent invaders and dangerous creatures, but in modern, more peaceful times, they fill the roles of scouts and guides for those traveling outside the colony, respected for their knowledge of surface terrain and outdoor survival skills.
