Where did you take the photo though! The California Zephyr passes through this town en route to Chicago every day so I see a lot of P42DCs flying around.

P42's have a nasty habit of traction motor failures (armature bearings lock solid then you have to torch off the pinion gear) i have seen it happen twice on my railroad and have heard many stories from Amtrak engineers about it happening to them. i wouldn't be suprized if that was the case and it was being shipped home for

Lol yea. There's a video on YouTube with an acela set and an HHP8 on a freight train. The stuff you see on then is amazing, almost anything you can think of
