The tropical derpus slug, a common nuisance. Residing largely in the jungle canopy, with a staple diet of leafy vegetation and fruits. Its eyes move independant to one another, compensating for their slow movement. When no immediate danger is sensed, they derp between one another, socialising and attempting to climb higher in their social structure. Startling them will cause them to fall silent briefly, but when feeling threatened, their call changes to a loud, humanlike vocalisation of "AAAAAAAAAAAAA." Whilst ultimately harmless even in numbers, their overpopulation of certain T1 planets can cause psychological wear upon colonists operating around them frequently. Easily dislodged by throwing rocks, or a good jab with a long branch. When cooked just right, what little meat there is after they've been wrung out is perfectly edible. Goes well with spam.
