The mortise and tenon joint used on many gibson guitars. my first time using a joint like this, a little slop in the neck but its not bad, and it fits up nicely. i kinda wish i had made it a neckthrough

Does the fit between neck and body alter the tone in any way?

the type of joint used will alter tone, and the fit of that joint may slightly alter it. my first bolt on didnt have the most perfect joint, but it still sounded great.
