From the sketchbook, Mitsubishi liner. 10x7,5 centimeters.
Sketching up a concept for a galactic map with decorative characters, showing the entirety of the Great Compass as of 5300 CE (appx. 20% of the bird's eye area of the denser Milky Way charted with some accuracy).
On the left, an incredibly skinny wallaby Communion marine wearing a combat-rated RF suit and brandishing a PPG sidearm, possibly a Ravenlock pistol. Probably going to extensively redesign the lower half of the suit to avoid pseudo-samurai aestetics, since there are frankly too many artists already who do them better than I.
On the right, an Elektronika P1-700 (chassis type 177: Fanaloka, female) in Hyperorian courtly livery, smoking a cryo-kiseru and carrying a Fabrika Rozanova PPG PDW as part of her uniform. Possibly she is the adjutant of a wing commander, being entrusted to safekeep an arming key, keeping it closest to her "heart", or rather radioelectric vessel.
Some issues with the map format became apparent in the process, which is after all exactly why design concepts are a thing. A full version would probably work better in a 2:1 format, closer to the more squared common renaissance format.
As always all feedback is appreciated, but thoughts on the implications of these character types as decoration especially so.
