Muttropolis - False Advertising
Drew this while out camping a few weeks ago and its in my hardbound sketchbook and those are a PITA to scan, so apologies for the horrible scan.
We always hit up McDonalds on our way out of town as a roadtrip tradition, because we're never out of the house in time for their breakfast and those are usually pretty good as far as fast food breakfasts go.
Skorzy unfortunately fell into the trap of food photography. I knew it wasn't going to come out looking that good, but I didn't expect his Deluxe Breakfast to come out looking like it'd been chewed already.
I, however, was very smart and stuck with the very basic egg mcmuffin (substitute bacon though, cuz bacon is awesome).

How about a somewhat bemused meal?
Yeah, I had experiences with the picture/reality food problem. Then a long time ago I saw something on TV telling about a food photographer and the (amazing to me at the time) chances are that the food photographed are practically inedible. Containing anywhere from plastics and paint to frozen/raw things scorched with a heat gun. That was pretty something.
Cute picture though, I feel for Skorzy.

My dad used to be a photographer for a magazine. He ruined the illusion for me a long time ago, and now I actually make a game of it to see what the mystery effects are, whether they're varnishing a turkey so it looks cooked, or making glue-soup for soup shots XD Nowadays it seems Photoshop is king.

Heh. My youngest Sister went to "Cal-Quake L.A.," and graduated with a degree in food services and preparation. During her studies she had to prepare foods for photography and commercials, and She darn near brained me for picking up one of her "Hero" cookies which I almost ate. You'd be very surprised what's done to make food look more appetizing on camera. For example, instead of using Vanilla Ice Cream, which would melt under the heat of the lights, they use cold, mashed potatoes. To make Hamburgers and steaks "Sizzle," they're squirted with hydrochloric Acid. To give cooked meats that "Juicy" look, they have motor oil dribbled on them, or are coated in Vaseline. Yes! Everything they show us on the ads are a LIE! (Well... Almost everything.)
As I commented to someone above, my dad used to be a magazine photographer and told me of varnished turkeys and "glue soup", I try to make it a game to see what is fake and what is real XD That's interesting about the mashed potatoes! I can see the reason though. I suppose I always assumed it was entirely fake, like a plastic scoop of ice cream or something. The mashed potatoes is an awesome angle.
That's how it always is! XD s'happened to me many a' times. ^^;
One of funniest was with my nephew. He saw the Triple Stacker from Burger King on the billboard and was too excited to try it! XP
When it got it he was like "WHAT THE..?!" cuz' it was so small! XD It was like a double cheesburger size! XD
