Tranquility in Suramar
Fan art featuring a resting owlcat from the World of Warcraft universe. Last year I really fell in love with pencils especially when it's paired with a kneaded eraser. This is a somewhat safer drawing method compared to the ballpoint pen-shaded pieces I create, since on a pencil piece even near the end you can still make a wide range of adjustments. With a ballpoint pen however you can only make things darker so you have to be sure about the values you're going for.
But you're still going to see a lot of ballpoint pen-shaded pieces from me in the future, despite the risks I still freakin' love working with them.
So why did I not use pencils for drawing to begin with? As a child I absolutely hated the sound pencils make on paper, but I was also way too much obsessed with drawing to just give up on it. This is why ballpoint pens became my main drawing tools, they were silent and rolled nicely on paper. :') I also had difficulties using things like charcoal and pastels in high school at first, because I was in constant agony from the dry scratchy sound they make. I'm not sure how I managed to get over this, the irritation just disappeared eventually. I guess I just had no choice since charcoal was the main tool we had to use in both high school and university.
But anyway, I'm just happy I can finally fully enjoy working with pencils and I hope you guys like the pencil-shaded pieces I create as well. <3
