Medli is working as diving mechanic aboard a treasure-hunting trawler on the high seas. Her job has her spending all her waking hours (and even sleeping) in a full-body rubber wetsuit, diving around the ricketly old vessel and fixing a plethora of hull and impellar issues. She's also made to dive into hazardous underwater environments for hidden treasure chests.

She ended up sharing a tiny bunk room with the bilge swabbie named Link. At first she was quite enraged having to share such little space with such a dopey guy. But when he showed her his courageous abilities and spirit fighting various foul beasts with only a mop and bucket, they soon started to get along. She shared her sadness of having to have a job that goes against her avian instincts, and both of them shared their frustration of being stuck in smelly, smothering suits for weeks on end (she also lost her additional clothing in a vessel capsizing).

Now they're almost inseparable in their few hours off their jobs, and are now planning a way to get a boat of their own in the future.
