I started on this last night. I really want to try lineless, but every time I do, it comes out looking flat with very little contrast between the shadows.
I want to know if there's anything I should change about the sketch, anatomy, composition, color palette, etc.
I'm really having trouble getting the fire's light to show up properly on its surroundings.
I don't know. I guess I'm just kinda worried about ruining this :(

One of your biggest issues is the change in values between the shadow and highlights on your figure itsaelf. Your value range is very limited and needs to be pushed more. More darks and more bights. You're hanging out in the middle range too much. The colors themselves aren't all that bad at all. But you do also need to pay attention to the direction your light is coming from.
Here is the paint over since the last link got infected. http://i272.photobucket.com/albums/...../paintover.jpg
Thank you very much for the paint-over :) It was really helpful for me to see the black and white values. I see that I got too caught up in color, and didn't pay enough attention to value.
I find myself shying away from dark darks and light lights quite a bit. I tend to just stay with mid-tones because they seem "safer".
I appreciate the critique :)

The legs have a slight height difference from the pose, but it looks like the knees are completely different heights. XD It's really eye catching for some reason. Also, no offense to you, but there is nothing about her that lets me know its a girl. Now if that's how your style goes, then forgive me! =( I just bring it up because I'm an ignorant fool. :'< Slight boobies or eyelashes wouldn't hurt. =)
About the light, you should follow
TheStory's version, cause it's awesome. =) BUT, as a small trick, I'm a cheater,a nd to add darkness to a picture, I put a layer above the rest, and color it black, then I change the opacity to like, 30%. Then I take an eraser tool ( the airbrush one, not the solid ) and I erase the black layer just around the sources of light, and any place the light would be directly hitting. =) I'm a cheater, and I taught myself that, since I've only had one teacher in my life teach me how to digitally color (
Seal of Approval ) =) So if you know a better way, do it. XD I have no official training.
GOOD LUCK! I hope to see this completed! It's pretty awesome so far. =)

That is kinda my style. Especially with this character. She's rather asexual and flat-chested, so I didn't really see a reason to define breasts since the shirt would be falling away from the torso in this hunched-over pose.
As for the knees, they are slightly different heights - as are the ankles - but I do agree that the left knee (our right) may be a bit on the high side :P
I will adjust accordingly.
But thank you! I'll probably need it x.x
And thank you for the critique~
