As someone for whom both German and English are both equally foreign, let me tell you that German is insanely easier to learn than English. In fact, the vast majority of languages are.
There are no miracles in life. What you get by eschewing declensions, conjugations, prefixes, postfixes etc., you immediately lose by being forced into a fixed word order and other things.
Also, English is the most irregular language I've seen. Every single rule, from phonetics to lexical morphology, has exceptions in every third case. This makes learning it feel like the public stereotype of learning Chinese: instead of a handful of building blocks and a handful of rules, you have to memorize thousands upon thousands of specific isolated cases.
