There was a meme going around Twitter to draw your OC in suggested styles. Any excuse to draw jackals (and bust out the markers).

1: Gary Chalk, illustrator of the early Redwall books! I don't work in black and white very often, but it was fun to work with the shading and texture on this one.
2. James Gurney/Dinotopia! This one was tricky as he's not exactly known for fuzzy animal people but I tried to emulate the look of the rougher field study illustrations.
3. Richard Scarry, which ended up being such a perfect style for Vaughn that I drew more of it. What do jackals do all day? Watch this space to find out.
4. Mucha/Art Nouveau, one of the only influences that people have ever actually attributed to my work. Vaughn's too young for a champagne ad but he will gladly sell you on sandwiches.
5. Don Bluth! I expected this one to be difficult, it's hard to nail Bluth's (often slightly grotesque) characterization, but it actually turned out to be pretty fun and I think I did alright \o/
6. Squishmallows! Please admire jackal orb.
