Will he ever grow up? I mean after ten years, he remains six years old. Characters and archetypes live (as T.A. Baron's character, Ellen of the Sapphire Eyes said) in Sacred Time.
If Calvin ever did grow up...
1.) He would probably ask Hobbes to keep an eye on his kid.
2.) He would probably be very much like his mother (karmic justice and family curses) and eventually regard Hobbes as a fond memory.
3.) Hobbes might say farewell and go befriend other children in need of a friend like Elliot in "Pete's Dragon".
But really, who can say? I doubt even Bill Watterson could even tell, since characters tend to take a life of their own.

Who says that you should lose your best friend when you become an adult? I believe what we've been taught about growing up is all wrong. So many adults have a stressful life. But if they can balance between being a child and taking care of responsibilities, one would not have to give up the best of one's life.
man this ROCKS...Calvin and Hobbes were one of my favorite comics...I think you personified all of us that had a special plush friend as a child...I had a special bear named Ted/Teddy...I think us furs should draw our special friend (imaginary or plush) and us grown up.
