Background Story:
[Part 1 - Arbasar]
Arbasar as a kid was interested in magic, a curious and very determined young student. Not foul in any way, or mean spirited. His affinity would become Divination.
Divination in itself being a very tricky art to master, as within my world the magic to harness it comes from 'talking' with the elements within Viridae.
It resembles an understanding and appreciation to the element, and if it likes you in return, it will answer you. The more it does, the more accurate and reliable the answer.
In its powerful form, any question or wish can be asked for, yet its always up to magic itself to answer based on its appreciation.
Arbasar became quite competent in the art of divination, yet often his questions were answered through omens of the crow. A common superstition, telling of a bad future.
Ignorant of their meaning, he got motivated to increase his power by wanting to control his own bad omens, and went to search for the darkest of powers within an ancient and forgotten book containing foul divination.
What he had found was indeed what he was looking for - A way to control the crows of ill omen, and therefor to believe he could control his life so that it would become one without any foretold dark futures.
What he did however not know or realized, was how this gift was actually handed to him - Upon performing the rites, Arbasar became 'gifted' with a constant foresight of events that would happen to him in the near future.
He would foresee his own cruel and unfortunate demise, which was set to happen not long after he actually cast the spell.
However, the spell also provided him with insight how to prevent himself from dieing so horribly - He had to make sure to put someone else in his place through a course of different actions, altering his own future at the cost of someone else's life.
At first he was afraid, unsure, but it was the only truth for him. He did not want to die, so he followed suit and witnessed with his own eyes the cruel fate being placed upon the innocent person, knowing well it was he whom should have been in its place.
It did not end either there for Arbasar, as every few weeks he would once more acquire insight of his life ending in cruel and abrupt ways unless he would take the steps to ensure someone would take his place. Afraid of death, he became aware that this was the necessary cost to ensure full control over his own faith, a cruel way to reach immortality.
Witnessing his own torment and that of others drove him mad and remorseless - The stakes of ensuring he could continue to live became higher, as more and more people would need to suffer in order to evade his own destiny.
More and more crows would start to surround Arbasar. They felt his insatiable hunger and would consider them his leader. A beacon of despair, a stream of agony no matter where Arbasar would go.
At the peak of his own madness, one of the crows stepped forth from the darkness and took a human-like form. Smarter and more intelligent, it pledged allegiance to Arbasar - Her beak open with a bloodied eye gazing from in between. The actual eyes on the creature removed with blood endlessly dripping from the sockets
This creature called herself Muerhes, the harbinger of ill omens.
From there, Arbasar and his army of crows have effectively been plaguing the world to ensure his own life keeps being spared, mad in determination and remorseless, perceiving other people's life as mere fuel for his own sustenance.
[Part 2 - Muerhes]
Little did Arbasar know that the moment he performed the forbidden rights that would allow him foresight into his own demise, he actually formed a pact of power with an elder demon, longing for more power and control. Despite being a formidable diviner, Arbasar was cleverly set up for a ruse - The spell in fact did not cast true visions of his future. They were false images as provided by Muerhes, controlling Arbasar's actions like a puppet.
The sacrifices he would make in his madness were actually done to strengthen his pledge to the crow demon. She would grow more powerful, sending more of her evil denizens into the world, sending forth Arbasar to do all her dirty work. He would be the perfect powerful vessel to do her unending bidding, up to the point where his rational thought would have been diminished so far that it would likely not even matter anymore if he did discover the foul truth.
Muerhes longs for torment and despair. She is a wicked and deceptive, and with her powers having grown she is a constant threat to Viridae. With Arbasar being her vessel, augmenting her own powers through both his determination and divination. Realizing that Dark Mystef is even stronger than herself however, she pledged her allegiance to him as one of their caretakers. In secret she hopes to harness enough power to surpass even the dark bringer themselves.
