It was an okay movie, pretty cliche and predictable but it's overall a harmless movie for kids. The art and animation is a real stand out to me because the characters finally look like they belong in their environment, big nitpick with a lot of modern Pixar movies is the environments and set pieces looking like they're as close to real life as possible with these cartoons walking around almost taking me out of the film, like I don't care how good y'all think Soul is but I'm not sitting through that with those ugly ass character designs, Turning Red is a step in the right direction.
But the discourse surrounding this film is a complete joke, like y'all really creating all this drama over a film that didn't even come out and when it did the discussions about it were even more cancerous, over an okay at best film that is completely fine for it's target audience, like I know a lot of Pixar films can be watched by both kids and adults but at the end of the day Pixar films are generally for kids, with the exception MAYBE being Ratatouille, maybe.
It was FINE.
(also don't lewd minors)

It was a decent film, sure. My biggest nitpick is the level of cringe right off the bat. I almost asked the husbear if we can turn it off not even 5 minutes into it. I don't have a problem with depicting teens as the cringe lords they are, but like...at least let me get engrossed in a story first. Overall, though, it was a good story about being true to yourself no matter what other people say. I think I would leave it to the teen audience though and not younger. It's definitely covering teenage topics that younger kids wouldn't grasp.
But younger kids can enjoy the panda stuff at least and maybe pick up on some things that they'll eventually figure out. I'd say the cringiest thing in the movie for me was at the end with the line "my panda, my choice", it felt REALLY forced and a little out of date? That term was more making the rounds in the 2010's not so much early 2000's. Idk it was really cringe, especially if you take into account how SCARILY adamant news outlets, talking heads and whatnot were pushing the covid vaccine and how quickly they demonized people who didn't get the jab, "my body my choice" went out the window on that one but that's a whole other topic.
That is fair. I thought it was more a tongue-in-cheek comment to make people giggle, but I can see it that way too. And yeah. Younger kids would definitely enjoy the panda stuff too. And yeah..."my body my choice" was used as a buzz phrase to get people rallied against pro-life people. In either case, I agree with you that this is an enjoyable movie even if it wasn't as good as people hype it to be.
