In reality, the DVD was NOT harmed, but every method known to HUMANKIND to send it BACK to Netflix™ was abandoned. The lady on the phone said, "Just send it back with the next one we send you."

I have, perhaps, less finesse opening letters. Friends have learned not to send me anything that requires careful opening as I literally end up tearing half the contents to pieces in my wild attempt to open stuff.
