This is one of my first two custom My Little Ponies I've made! I had so much fun with this pony and I can't wait to make more of them.
The design for this pony came from a creature that my husband created for his D&D setting. Well, four creatures, really. Four different types of horses, one type from each of the four Elemental Planes. This horse is from the elemental plane of fire, and is made from molten rock and flames.
I used a G3 My Little Pony as a base. (I don't know which pony it was. When it came to me, it was metallic orange, with orange hair with gold tinsel in it. The eyes and symbol were removed already) He was painted with acrylic paints in layers of red and orange, then dry-brushed with yellow on the nose, ears, and legs. I then painted the lava rock on with black acrylic. The mane and tail were made from Apoxie Sculpt clay and then painted to look like flames and more lava rocks.
Originally I was going to try to paint his eyes to look like burning coals, but once I got that flat black in there I liked it too much, so I decided just to put red highlights to make him look a bit less soulless.
So proud of my first pony! I couldn't have asked for him to turn out any better for being a first try!
