Doctor Edgar is a Plague Doctor, as well as a Pharmaceutical Scientist, despite his knowledge in making medicines he isn't always best equipped due to the original lab being shut downed by some incident. Instead he has his own lab in his own home to do his crafts there.
Thanks to current situations happening around the country, trying to make a cure or collect the things he needs are more of a life or death mission, along with it being more dangerous to travel in the unnamed forests or to the sewers to get rid of the pesky rats. Along with his already busy work in trying to put together the answers of a curse for the Mutant and the Plague, he has no time to do too much traveling in risk of his own life, so instead he uses people who is willing to work under him. He worked with people when the original lab still existed, but after the end of that lab, he ends up working more with mutans to do his dirty work for him, they're mostly a life or death situation or a simple "go collect this for me". Majority of them did die from a sickness or a death from a monster trying to do his missions for him, so Edgar slowly stops accepting help from just anyone, and instead waits and looks for someone he feels is the best in doing his work for him, putting some of his progress on pause.
