A closed sphere is not really the right way to think of it.
Each level is more analogous to a tiled floor that extends forever in every direction. The shape of individual rooms within said levels can thus be thought of as the shape of the tiles.
When working in extradimensional spaces, it can be helpful to an extent to think of the lower dimensions as a source of analogy. A being that lives in a 2D world can only see the edges of objects. If you put a triangle inside a hollow square, a 2D being will only be able to see a line segment, and not what is behind it, whilst we can look down or up at the 2D plane and see inside the square to see the triangle. If you pushed a 2D being up through the base of a 3D cone, from their point of view they would just see themselves surrounded by circle that is being shrunk. You can also push the cone through the 2D plane at various angles to make it look like a triangle, a semicircle, or a truncated parabola, in addition to a circle.
Similarly, if you put a Funko Pop in a chest, a higher dimensional being would be able to see the Funko Pop inside the chest, even though you cannot. They could push you through the base of a hypercone and you would see an expanding/shrinking sphere surrounding you. Moving the hypercone through 4D space would make it expand out of thin air up to a maximum size before shrinking to nothingness (unless it is pointed straight "up", in which case it would reach a maximum size and then suddenly disappear. Vice versa if "upside-down"). Depending on the orientation of the hypercone, you may see a sphere (analogous to the 2D being seeing a circle), a cone (analogous to the 2D being seeing a triangle) or an intermediate shape between the two (analogous to the truncated parabola).
