Most of my musician friends have an Ovation or two in the rotation. Never seen a bass like this one though.

The company has never been known for their basses. But their acoustic guitars, oh yeah!

That certainly is pretty; I like nice, rich browns on an acoustic guitar, and the satin finish compliments the warm shade.

My first thought when I saw this was: "ha--look at that: a twin to my old Tennessean!" I used to have a Gretsch Tennessean hollowbody from the 1960s that would originally have been a deep burgundy stain, but when I got it the red aniline that guitar makers used for red-stained finishes had faded out, leaving it a lovely shade of brown that this bass very closely resembles.

And, like your Ovation bass, my old Tenny had white binding on the top and fingerboard, but not on the back edge of the body. That and the colour resemblance reminded me of a nice guitar that I sometimes wish I'd kept.

I love warm orange and brown finishes. The colors of autumn. A red burst doesn't do much for me, but show me a tobacco burst and now you're talking!
