I have a theory for those into the kingdom hearts universe... ive been thinking this since i played crisis core... I dont know if it is reinforced in birth by sleep or not as i havent played all the way through it yet....

As far as I know it's Seph's own strength of will that makes him able to reincarnate. He goes to the lifestream but doesn't move on from there, his sheer refusal to die means his mind doesn't diffuse like it should, and from the lifestream it can infest others, or even re emerge in some kind of incomplete Physical form (Kadaj, Yazoo, Loz)
