"What about that guy?"
"Huh? Which one?" The flamingo twisted hisflab-burried neck, further deepening the creases of the rolls that fought for space, stacked like a pile of fluffy pancakes. "Mr colourful feathers there?"
"Yeah. He seems like he has potential. I bet that is not his first burger of the evening. And it is barely..." The dog glanced at his wrist with a well-practiced move "... quarter to five."
"I don't know Kyle. Doesn't it look reeeeaally sketchy to ask a complete stranger to join an eating contest out of the blue? What kind of nutjob does that?" The flabby bird leaned forward against the boardwalk railing, further twisting his neck, trying to get a better view of their potential target. "Why don't we just give up altoge... Wilbur? WILBUR!"
The nutjob of a dog was already making his way towards the green dragon who had not even noticed the debate happening around him. Kyle gasped in disbelief, but after a sigh of resignation, decided to play along. In fight or flight situations his wings had never carried him far anyway.
"Hey buddy! You seem like a big eater! Let me tell you something! Today is your lucky day! Isn't that right, Kyle? Tell 'em!" The golden wall of fluff rose on the dragon's left, tactically blocking any possibility of avoiding the abrupt conversation. And before any evasive maneuvers could be considered by the chubby reptile, the flamingo wrapped a downy wing over his shoulders.
"That's right, Mister..."
"U-Uhh... T-Tzin?"
"Mister Tzin! Wonderful! I'm Kyle, and as my pal Wilbur was saying, today is your lucky day." Kyle was harnessing every single bit of charisma and confidence emanating from his bulkier body. His tight shirt and his sagging overhang pressed against the comparatively small dragon, putting him at a disadvantage, even when ignoring the fact that he was outnumbered two-to-one. "Tell me, Tzin. Do you like food?"
The question, as confusing as it was, at face value, clearly elicited a response from Tzin's subconcious. His gut repplied with a low rumble, even before he could cobble together a sensible sentence.
"Aha! That's wonderful!! So you see... we are not from around here and we were aiming to try the local cuisine, and make the most of it... and a place right around the corner is organizing an eating contest for anyone who wants to fill up on the local delicacies. The catch is that admission requires a team of three and... well..." the flaming patted his bulky midsection with a content expression plastered across his beak. "...while we certainly weigh as much as any average three member team, the rules are the rules, y'know?"
"WWha... I-I d-don't... B-Buhhh..." Tzin kept his eyes focused on his burger, trying to make sense of the bizzare situation in which he had suddenly found himself.
The dog intervened, further pressing his mountainous body, further pinning Tzin against the flamingo "Yeah... so, our trusty mechanic friend just bailed on us. And we need another member if we want to participate. We are leaving next week so It cannot wait. And that food looks absolutely glorious!" The mere thought of it visibly caused Wilbur to slobber up.
"We just need you to be there and to eat as much as you want. We already have the admission money so it won't cost you a cent. All we need is for you to be there complete our team... If we win the challenge, you might even get a free shirt!" The excitement in the voice of the flamingo was very much palpable. It didn't help that by that point he was practically leaning against the shorter dragon, who had suddenly become the single pilar of a poorly-balanced tribute to gluttony and hedonism that these two randos represented.
"So... what do you say? are you part of the team?"
The boldness and confidence that this duo emmanated was simply too grand to resist.
Despite how sketchy and suspicious this proposal sounded, the opportunity was too good to pass. Besides, Tzin had never said no to free food. He was not about to break that decade-long streak... screw his diet, how bad could one cheat day be? Right?
Right...?
"Count me in!"
The plump pair energically erupted in a disproportionate display of cacophonnous cheers. And right underneath the ruccus, an overtaxed button gave up containing the excess pudge that had settled around the dragon's waist, after years of succumbing to far too many temptations given his severe and so-far incurable sweet tooth.
And any measures to address his critically undersized clothing, along with his plans for his next week, had suddenly been tossed overboard. And yet, Tzin had a good feeling about these two friends, who, within mere minutes, oddly felt like life-long friends!
~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~This is part of an art trade I made with the wonderful and incredibly talented
thatBIGdragonstory !! You can see his side of the trade right HERE!Since he was so incredibly patient, and made a sensationa job in his piece, I decided to add on a tiny short little itty-bitty story to the piece I did. I swear his characters are just fantastic: they have so much personality... writing them into the story felt so easy and natural. Plus, who doesn't love a massive flab-mingo and a globular golden retriever?
That's right: no one! They are irresistible. Now go give them some love!!!
I had so much fun trying a new different style in this piece. I did it entirely in Procreate, my first true love in terms of drawing software. It surely doesn't have all the tools that I use in CSP, but it is a fun way of challenging myself and change up the look of things. Why not?
Anyway, that is it! Thanks for your comments and I hope you like this piece! Go give Henry a +Watch and some +Favs!! He's such a great pal!!

Hahahaha well... all the excess fat has to be placed somewhere and in flamingos (and storks) the neck has plenty of real estate for fatness to accumulate.
Wouldn't you love to feel that soft yielding blubber under a layer of downy pink feathers? I think it would feel awesome!!

Ohh my GOOD GRAVYY!! Tzin! You went so far above any beyond with this, I'm speechless! I LOVED the story accompanying the art, it is so much fun. And Kyle and Wilbur look amazing in your style! Thank you so much for drawing them! I was definitely not expecting both. Thank you so much for putting in so much effort into all of this, I'm honestly so in awe.
I especially LOVE how Kyle and Wilbur roped poor unsuspecting Tzin into their contest. We know he won't let them down! Looks like they have a pretty great team. :P
So sorry for the late response! It's been a busy week, but seeing this really makes a great end to the week. Once again, thank you a million times!

Ohhh shush, you!! Have you seen your own side of the trade?? It is MAGNIFICENT!!! Besides, I had to make it up to you for having to wait mor than a month to finally get this piece!! So it was well overdue.
I had a blast drawing Kyle and Wilbur!! They are such cool characters and I'm so happy you let me do my own take on them. I know you siad either/or, but I just couldn't decide which one... so I picked both!!
Poor Tzin he'll wake up the next day and none of his pants will fit. Ohh well... might as well give up and enjoy larger meals anyway! ;)
