i find having one of those derpy fake credit cards i get in the post handy for using as a straight edge when drawing. also try this little tip when drawing straight lines look where you want the line to end and draw to that point with practice you end up with very straight lines!
but nothing beats the point and click of digital. with my art proggy it's hold the shift key :P
