"Before the Era of Emergence, most pragmatic chimeracorns were forced to live underground alongside solenomykes. While living underground was patently safer than the alternative for the time, unrefined excavation techniques made subterranean life difficult and dangerous as well. This is why Nozadze's trailblazing of canary corpses and necromancy as a whole radically improved the quality of life for her people. Not only did subterranean development become safer for its living workers, but now there was even less need for denizens to travel to the surface."
Nozadze's a chimeracorn, a species you can learn more about in The Human Bestiary! WARNING for barbie doll nudity, if that's a thing that bothers you.
Hopefully, this marks my ascent from worldbuilding hell. I hope it also marks my ascent from CSS/HTML hell too. I know the website isn't very interesting or complex, but it was still pretty hard to get everything to look at least a little close to how I wanted. There's still a lot about it that I would like to add and change, but I've accepted that it'll take me a while to achieve those things since I'm doing it all myself (and I have basically 0 background in web development).
There's 12 species in total and, barring any more HTML weirdness, the only limiting factor in how fast I upload the following species is how fast I can draw since I've done most of the writing. I know the chimeracorn page doesn't have much writing and many of the other species will have similarly short pages, but there's writing as far as the world history goes that I've been doing behind the scenes. I decided really ironing that out alongside the species stuff made sense. Ideally, I would have done this before starting the comic at all, but I don't think it's very productive to dwell on that so much. At least now I can give out little blurbs like the one above giving little tastes of the world's history.
