The recent escalation of the situation in Ukraine following the invasion by Russia has deeply saddened and concerned myself and everyone I know. Our thoughts are with the people of Ukraine and similarly extend to those in our community with Russian citizenship or ties to the Russian community who deplore this act of violence against their Ukrainian brethren. We must be committed to the principles of equality and accountability that underwrite the value of democracy. I support the continuity of Ukrainian sovereignty and extend my deepest sympathies to all those affected by the conflict.
