Lovely art that contributes as an additional piece to my growing art collection featuring this character. One interesting flaw I've noticed...and haven't noticed in all the art that's been posted... Is that she has no tail. Except for the long hair-braid that's shown behind her. Certainly a story can be made behind that little detail, if I can manage to make it. But Time hasn't been on my side recently with how College work has been ramping up.
Zeru's role in Madam Tsubaki's life is simply a loyal companion. Griffon's in this world are just like any feral creature, a bit wonderous and natural to the world. As far as connecting with her, a bond was formed between Tsubaki and this beast during a training exercise that was to test her (a good set of years she gained her sword...and well before her pregnancy), Zeru was brought down and they captured by poachers who were eager to make their earnings off of killing and skinning the creature alive. Zeru managing to put up a fight, enough to injure a couple of the them, but it could not escape on its own. Tsubaki, sympathetic to the creature's plight, snuck into the Poacher's camp, compassionate in her goals, she subdued and ensured the Griffon's freedom.
Her actions were a violation against her Master's wishes, but the opportunity to test her with a life or death situation upon was a rare moment that tested the fledgling assassin ...she had proven herself more than capable in this moment. And gaining an Ally in the process.
