something silly because i need an innocent laugh
A friend of mine did not believe (as usual) that there is an entire half of our planet that is almost completely empty so i was showing him google maps, because this is 2022 and map globes are not really a thing anymore.
So he goes "but who is saying "hi" in the middle of the ocean?!"
And this is the first time i make the connection between the "hawaii" 2 letter standard name and the "hi!" greeting among humans that speak english. 😂

Since we are already dealing in geography here, let me give you another little tidbit which amused me greatly when I realized it.
Point Nemo
Point Nemo refers to a certain location in the southern Pacific, which is the furthest possible distance from any continental landmass. For decades now it has been used as a graveyard for various pieces of orbital infrastructure - the biggest chunk of which being the remains of the Russian space station Mir.
However, this location is also mentioned in much older scripture and under a different name:
R'lyeh
That's right. For decades now, humanity has been throwing space junk at the doorstep of what amounts to Cthullu's bedroom...
What could possibly go wrong with that after all?
Ahhh.. homo sapiens. The human endowed with reason... Yeah.. right.
