Considering how stereotypical and almost cartoonish the idea of a snake being green often is, the real ones can be some of the most stunningly beautiful of all. The red-tailed green rat snake is native to Southeast Asia and may reach up to almost 8 ft (2.4m). These little living emeralds flatten their neck out to intimidate predators, much like a cobra - but sideways!

The black coloration across the eye area is really neat! He / she looks like a little bandit!
All in all, snakes are pretty cool. I will probably never own one (I lean more towards meowing furry furniture destroyers), but I do have respect for the snake owners that maintain their snakes in responsible ways.
(There are way too people that release their pets into the wild. While it may seem like a good idea, most snakes, rabbits, ect. usually don't do too well.)

Ehhhh. That's a myth that was blown way out of proportion by animal rights lobbyists. The everglades python situation, for example, wasn't caused by people releasing pets that got too big, it was a breeding facility that was destroyed by a hurricane. And most (not all, but the overwhelming majority) of the exotic animals found loose are accidental escapes, not releases. It's a bigger issue with fish than mammals and reptiles and birds, cuz....yknow the fish can't really accidentally escape lmao

I heard of people releasing their goldfish, only to see and hear of goldfish getting pulled out and resembling a huge fish dinner.
But, thanks for letting me know: I didn't know how true the mentions were, and I just assumed that people were letting their pets go free.
