While
Athus and I were driving up the Sequoia National Park road, I saw this BIG ass spider crossing the road (obviously I missed him). I stopped at the nearest spot I could and ran back with my camera to find a tarantula stopped in the middle of the road.
Thankfully, he wasnt very aggressive and decided to stand COMPLETELY still while I take pictures of him =D

Macro images are very tricky, as your Depth of Field goes down to almost nil. It becomes absolutely critical to achieve the correct focus in these kinds of shots. In this one, you're fopcused just slightly behind where you should be. (The spider's mandibles should really be in focus)
Of course, when dealing with questionably dangerous subjects, you take what you can get, right? :) I've yet to get a good focused picture of a spider, and this is a far cry closer than what I've managed yet :)

Yea, it focused on the abdomen and not the eyes, where I would have liked it to be. The problem is that I dont have any kind of swivel screen fanciness and I didnt risk putting myself onto the ground so I could see from the viewfinder lest it potentially charge and I be screwed XD That meant that I had to go auto focus which meant that I was at the less than tender mercies of what the camera thought was important.
I was also reluctant to put my hand on the lens to try focusing (not that I would be able to see that it was focused or not anyway) as I rather enjoyed the fact that my camera was between me and the spider XD

But that spider wouldn't harm a fly! Oh wait... no, he'd eat the fly. :)
Now what you really need to find is one of these: http://dark-raptor.deviantart.com/a.....pider-70298137 They don't look like they'd hurt anything :D
And a quick solution to your viewfinder problem? Angle finders. you can pick them up cheap on eBay :) (~30, and they're pretty much universal)
