ugh_del is my Ukrainian Husky OC, Anton Savchenko. A Ukrainian artist drawing a Ukrainian character!
Bio: Anton Savchenko was born in Donetsk, Ukrainian SSR on May 19, 1985. He was the first born son to Ivan Sachenko (b. 1965-), and Yulia Savchenko (nee Kovalenko, b. 1966-). His father was a coal miner in Donetsk, while his mother worked at the coal mine's office. Anton grew up in Donetsk with his family when the Soviet Union fell apart and Ukraine became independent. During the difficult 1990's, the family suffered financially and Anton worked odd jobs to help his parents', especially after the unexpected pregnancy and birth of his little brother, Vasily, in April 2001.
Working up the courage to come out to his parents at age eighteen in 2003, Anton got a cool reception from his family regarding his gayness. Deciding that his future was no longer in Ukraine, Anton worked up the funds and emigrated to the United States in 2005. He settled in Westerville, Ohio, where his online boyfriend had lived at. The relationship soon soured and Anton was on his own in Westerville, working as a school janitor for many years to make ends meet. Desiring a dream to make it big in his new adopted country, he and a friend started their own gym, which became successful. Gradually, Anton became more "Americanized", adopting his punk dyed blue Mohawk and goatee, and tattoo sleeves.
As the Crimea crisis unleashed the Donbass unrest, Ivan and Yulia asked Anton if his little brother could come to the US to live with him. Anton soon took in Vasily and began raising him, followed in 2015, by his young cousin Anatoly, who survived the Battle of Debaltseve which killed his parents in a rocket attack. Later that year, his parents escaped the conflict and came to live with him. 2015 was also the year that he met his future husband, Walter "Borr" Eklund, a Swedish husky who fell in love with him and eventually married in 2020. In 2018, Anton and Borr took a young Ben Reynolds under their wing, and took care of him as their house guest after his parents threw him out for being gay.
Now a decade and a half being in the States, Anton has made the US his home with his whole family in Westerville.
