October, 2010 marked the 25th anniversary of "Breast Cancer Awareness Month", and throughout North America, there had been a variety of ways of getting the message across...
Some specialty newspapers were published in pink paper; Name brand products were distributed in pink-colored boxes; And on Sunday, October 10th, a number of syndicated comic strips were published with various shades of pink - all to convey a message of hope to women everywhere.
Inspired by the Sunday funnies' treatment, I'd decided to draw my bobcat 'fursona' in pink (instead of his usual orange look), joined by his associate 'Donovan Lupus' (who's only tagging along, just to see 'Rob' react to his 'new look').
(Since I'm not a professional, like all of the other artists who conveyed the message "Cartoonists Care" on 10-10-10, this will probably be the closest thing to being like one of them.)

Nice little comic, really kind of sums up how this month has been... I mean, I understand that breast cancer is serious and whatnot, but... I was watching the football games on Sunday, and the little pink towels as well as pink SHOES?!... Really? Uhm... I can't help but feel a tad insensitive for getting tired of all the pink, but honestly, how many of us go THAT far out of our way for any special month?
Breast cancer awareness is a big event in my town. I often see the pink ribbon stickers on the back of vehicles, or men and women wear the pink ribbon buttons to show they care. Wearing pink is not exclusive to the women, but no man other than I, or you, Rob, seem daring enough to dress in such a bold color. I'm not bold enough to dye my fur pink, though, so congratulations for being braver than me
You're the only fur I know that takes time to detail events such as breast cancer awareness, and it makes me happy that you have such a big heart full of concern and care for people. You're a good role model, Rob :3
I had myself a good laugh at the comic, and Donovan's quandary did make me snicker. *beeps my nose, like a clown, and spritzes you with alka-setzer* And now you're all clean! That'll be $150
