“Well, the past couple years have certainly been interesting,…
I’ve explored more and more of Nightshade Island, found lots of new dangers here, like the Villains and the Muck Beasts, and more quicksand than I ever thought existed, as well as some new friends to help me, like Carissa, Ozzy and the Wisps.
I’ve found my way to other places as well, and made lots of new friends along the way, like Hula Girl, Lucia, Tu Li, Adrian, and the Paradise Avengers. Not to mention learning new things, like Chess and Karaoke, and discovering amazing new foods, like Pizza.
I’ve grown along the way too, and I don’t just mean letting my hair get longer,… I changed my outfit abit, to make it more mobile, and give more protection to my hands and arms, learned new tactics and ways of fighting and dealing with the threats on my island, and other islands.
I still haven’t found a way back to the island I came from, and my family there, but I’m hopeful one day I will, and until then, I have definitely made a new home for myself here, with an ever-growing family.”

It’s been a couple years now since I first got Ember visualized, and as anyone who has been watching and following the pictures I post of her knows she has changed abit since then, particularly in regards to her outfit, which was simplified not long after first appearance. So, I figured it was about time I got an updated reference sheet to properly reflect these changes, as well as some other changes I had had in mind as well. The first changes made shortly after I started getting commissions of her was the removal of the second, lower, belt of flowers, and the flowers that were on her arms. This was done to simplify her abit, as all those flowers meant more details for artists to keep up with, which made a few artists abit grumbly when drawing her. I feel this change no only simplified her look, while keeping to the general spirit of the idea, but also kind of streamlined her design, which made more sense for a character who’s main strengths are her speed and agility, as unnecessary extra bits on her outfit could potentially slow her down. Another notable change came unintentionally over time, from the drawings of her done by ShoNuff44, in that as the flowers were removed from her arms her leaf wraps seemed to extend covering more of her arms and hands. While this was not done intentionally on my part, I quickly found myself really liking these changes, which eventually led to her arm wraps becoming like finger-less gloves which covered most of her hands, except her fingertips, all of forearms and even over her elbows. I felt this was a very good change, that made a lot of sense for her, as these wraps were meant for protection, so it seemed right that they’d cover as much as they could without reducing movement and flexibility. Another notable difference in this sheet is her hair, the main length of her hair was always meant to be around ankle-length, but a lot of artists seem to short-change her in that regard, and same with her side bangs, so hopefully this reference will make those lengths abit clearer, though I do think I still like the spiky look her bangs have always had, but would just like them to be longer, so we’ll see how that goes. All in all, I think this is a long overdue update for her reference.

Toughest did a great job with this update! Her new design is defiantly a bit nicer to take in, and it has a really good balance over colours and what is and isn't covered. Also nice to see her hair be see through to give a proper look at her back, as well as the glowing flower, not to mention the small increase in length on her hair looks great! Good stuff all around! :)
He really did, and yeah, it's good to see the outfit finally, officially updated, even if it has been this way for awhile technically, and yeah, a good balance of colors and what is and isn't covered. The see-through hair to see the back of her outfit is nice, the glow to the flower is a nice, rarely seen, touch, and I do like the increased hair length alot. Glad you like it :)
Ember has really changed after 2 years. And I say these are good changes :). It shows a character eveloping, as well as the friends she has made. I am glad that she has been able to be friends with Mikey and Tu Li :). Not to mention just meeting Seishin :D. I just wonder how she would be if she sees Chirithy ;). But Toughset really did a wonderful job here :). And the future holds many possibilities :D
She really has, and I'm glad you think so. Oh, indeed, always great to show development like that with a character, and I'm glad she became friends with them too. Hmm, that could be interesting, but considering all the weirdness on her island she probably wouldn't be too surprised by him. Indeed he did, and it certainly does. :)
