So somebody asked to see the finished image without the text, and I figured I'd post it up side-by-side with my initial sketch, just for laughs.
I had the idea for the basic pose/composition while I was in bed, and the only thing handy was my laptop. Rather than get up and fire up my painting machine, I figured I'd just jot down the basic gist of it using the dinky touchpad on my laptop.
The results, I think, speak for themselves <3

I didn't use any reference on this one, so it's entirely likely there are anatomy issues. I did consciously want to make the hand-holding a little uncomfortable for the fox, because I imagine it's a little uncomfortable for the fox emotionally as well. The idea was that the bunny was like "to hell with that, we're holding hands in public."
Thanks for the feedback!

Haha, boxers and a parka is definitely a bold fashion statement <3
And man, folks like Rockwell and Leyendecker did insane sketches and studies for their paintings. It's pretty intimidating to see them. They'd paint out individual figures and objects multiple times on separate canvases, working out the poses and details, then they'd draw a grid and use that to manually copy them onto the final canvas.
Haha, but I'm sure there were a few last-minute, right-before-bed scrawlings mixed in there, too ^_^

I... ummm... didn't realize they were holding hands, I thought the bunny was holding a pair of gloves. That changed the entire dynamic of the piece for me once I saw it. That just tripled the impact for me and I'm straight. He looks like he gave as good as he got and bravo for him.
