But yes, I agree it was a shame they cut the song. The rendition of Beautiful Soup sung in operatic tones was genuinely charming. While I loved the Walrus and the Carpenter scene, seems unfair to have them in the movie and not the Mock Turtle and Gryphon. Especially when the latter were in the book and the former didn't show up until the sequel. Very odd on Disney's part.
