I am living my best life by finally making Laikaschov Shepard a refsheet and will now die a vindicated bastard. 7 yrs after my first playthrough of Mass Effect. There she is, forever my beloved. This game fundamentally changed my life. Since mass effect is an rpg i made her look like me when i first played, so she shares a lot of features with my other human oc, Nyne, and the biggest difference is Laika is exclusively she/her. I will never change nor improve, LOL.

Laikaschov was an orphan raised on the streets of the great megatropolises covering Earth. She escaped the life of petty crime and underworld gangs by enlisting with the Alliance military when she turned eighteen. During the early years of her service, a mission she was on went horribly wrong. Trapped in an extreme survival situation, she had to overcome physical torments and psychological stresses that would have broken most people. She survived while all those around her fell, and now she alone is left to tell the tale. Laika's unit was slaughtered in a thresher maw attack on Akuze, and since it was well-known that Cerberus had a hand in the incident, she acts very cold with Cerberus operatives current and former. The love of her life and partner forever is Garrus Vakarian, though she has been close with both Kaidan Alenko and Liara T'Soni in the past.

Following the activation of the Crucible and subsequent destruction of the Reapers, Laika has retired gracefully from the Alliance Military, getting married to Garrus soon after. She has chronic joint and back pain associated with her fatal crash on Alchera and the extreme grade cybernetics used to repair the remainder of her spinal column. After a long bout of physical therapy and mental health counseling, she is finally content with her life and able to move past the horrors she's had to endure, and has made a full recovery from the psychological effects suffered from prolonged contact with the Reapers. Life has its moments, however, and there are times she wishes she hadn't stopped fighting for the galaxy...
