Prequel to https://www.furaffinity.net/view/45618089/ with Floatzel and Riolu having a friendly exchange during a lunch break in-between afternoon classes. In this case, Riolu was skeptical about the usefulness of being elastic (not seeing any real use besides being a portable space filler).
Floatzel, seeing an opportunity to flex his skills scarfed down his lunch and promptly inflated his tails and floatation sac. Riolu, unsure of what Floatzel was up to, simply raised a 'brow'. After a few light test hops, Floatzel started hopping nearly five times his height, front flipping, backflipping before gracefully (albeit slowly) floating back down to the ground. While the display was impressive, Riolu still didn't look convinced.
Eyeing a kite stuck high above in a tree, Floatzel sprung skyward and easily reached the kite nearly 100 feet up. Being close to neutrally buoyant, Floatzel had to grab a branch to stop his ascent but once there, he seemed to float effortlessly. It took a bit of finessing to untangle the kite with Floatzel occasionally reaching for a branch to steady himself in a breeze. After pulling the kite free, Floatzel kicked off a stiff branch launching himself towards the ground, front flipping to land perfectly on his feet.
Riolu couldn't hide a smile as he was handed the kite and Floatzel explained how being elastic can open up a bunch of possibilities. One such application was reaching high and (otherwise) out-of-reach places with ease without having to grow very big. But, before Floatzel could give another example, the campus bells rang signaling the next round of classes were about to begin. Floatzel visibly deflated with disappointment, slightly annoyed that his little demonstration had to get cut short. Riolu was quick to thank him for his time and as the pair made their way back to class, Floatzel shared a few training ideas to help Riolu better control his ability.
I originally had a longer story planned for this one but never got around finishing it.
