I thought it would be interesting to make a version of the Jersey Devil as a large Hammerhead Bat that developed long legs as an explanation for sightings. The Pine Barrens have a variety of berries, including cranberries that grow in wetlands, hence the bat having longer legs to stay dry while standing in the water.

I have a really strong fascination with linking cryptozoology to zoology/paleontology. And a bit of speculative evolution. Might make a series of cryptids in the future.
