Over the past few years now, I have been asking my groovy friend,
14-bis, for a commission of pretty powerful proportions with my two gals, the Mighty PlastiCat and Ricochet KaBoom, The Impossible Girl in their Pathfinder adventuring garb to join up with some of my favorite gals from Saturday Mornings when you had really well done cartoons that I grew up with back in the 1960s, the 1970s, and the 1980s. Two of my favorites were the classic Scooby Doo Where Are You? from the late 1960s and then the Dungeons and Dragons cartoon, both I still watch from time to time when I need a bit of a pick up. It seems like I ask for one or two of these a year and they are so worth it!
This one is a continuation of the one that was done last year, about this time I think ... where the Elastic Cats joined Diana the Acrobat and Sheila the Thief in the Inn of the Dancing Owl Bear for food and drinks after a bit of fun picking on poor old Venger who Ricochet's got a bit of a crush on. Personally, I always loved his voice.
If you love cartoons, you might check out the artist's page or even the Patreon and see about following the artist's work. I highly recommend this artist.

Venger's voice actor is Peter Cullen. He's done a ton of voice over work in animation over the years.
Most notable roles are, of course, the voices of Optimus Prime and Ironhide from the Transformers animated series (G1), and Eeyore from Winnie the Pooh, as well as Monterey Jack from Chip n' Dale's Rescue Rangers.
He also did voice over narrations for movie trailers, such as "Batman & Robin" and "Spawn", and did the vocal effects of the Predator in that same movie. A little known fact is he also provided the roars of the iconic monster Kong in the 1970's version of "King Kong" and "King Kong Lives!".
A last little tibdit, the American company that adapted "Seijushi Bismarck" into the series "Saber Rider & The Star Sheriffs" had Peter provide the voice of the super-robot Ramrod.
Annnnd, this has been your Saturday Morning Geek out. :)

Most of that I knew, honey ... there are a few pieces I didn't. But I managed over the years to put the voice to memory and listen for Peter Cullen throughout the cartoons. He did a few others ... I know he was Jessica's uncle from Filmation's Ghostbusters. I want to say he did some voice work for Thundarr the Barbarian show, like a few of the villains, but I could be wrong. I'm trying to remember without resorting to Wikipedia. I want to say he did a villain from Swat Kats, but throughout a good bit of Saturday Morning, even before Transformers and Dungeons and Dragons, I believe he was already legendary. Like Ted Cassidy, Robert Ridgely, John Erwin. and Allen Oppenheimer.

*laughs* Glad to see you're more informed than I used to be.
It always surprised me when I heard his voice in some animated series or show, and I would always wait to check the credits at the end to make sure.
And yes, Peter's one of the true icons of Animated VO work. I'd hope to have a chance to meet him in person one day.

Mm ... experience and no internet which meant that I had to use the brain that God gave me and use it the way that Mom would have appreciated, even if she would never admit it. Research used to be my strong point and I loved figuring things out for myself. Wikipedia and the search engines that you have for computers are groovy enough as long as the information within is accurate. I try to verify as much as I can so when I say that I'm right, I usually am ... however, that being said, I do make mistakes and I still get a thrill out of being proven wrong. Provided the other person is not an ass about it. But, I also do have the good graces that Mom also instilled on me ... and some of the fighting skills Kait taught me too.
I tried meeting him a while back. A friend of mine thought he would be attending an animation convention either in Louisville or Chicago, but we found out that he had changed plans or just never was confirmed. I want to say this was back in the early 1990s, but I was drinking back then and stressed out due to college being a pain in the butt. SCAD (Savannah College of Art and Design) was not an easy place to keep up with, especially when you were working two jobs that were even more demanding.
