Those look like P-51D's if I remember right. Those are the ones with the bubble canopies.

I loved the Alison Aircraft Engines, nearly impossible to kill, but waaaay to many people hated them

yes, I know they had MANY shortcomings including climb rates and stuff... but you have to admire an engine you can cut in HALF and still have run and land the plane safely

Formation take offs are always fun. Especially at fields which don't see them too often! "Tower, just to confirm. Two aircraft will be taking the runway at once"

Of course, at an Air Show they must be expecting it!

at EAA AirVenture a formation takeoff is a common event. :)
