Artaith's padawan/apprentice, Duzel. He was inspired by Duzie, one of my favorite pet rats that has since passed on.
This is another hack ref sheet with a crap/hack color jorb, coz more than a few people have asked. When I get some more commissions finished, I promise I will do an honest-to-God proper reference sheet for him to. He is Artaith's padawan/apprentice, an upstart and damn hard to draw. He gets short shorts because I didn't want to draw a sheath or flaccid peen and have to make this mature.
I've got the flu and I'm high on meds, whaddya want? XD
Anyway, lucky for you I typed up a long-ass bio for him for Wielder earlier, and I'll just be lazy and copy and paste it here:
Duzel was the only son of politicians. His parents were far too busy and dedicated to political affairs to really have a child or pay much attention to him, and he spent most of his young years being raised by Governesses. And, like most children who can't seem to get the attention of their parents, he acted out often in a negative manner to try and get any attention possible. Thinking maybe he would benefit from the structure and discipline of the Jedi Order, his parents appealed to The Council. Seeing as once tested, Duzel actually had a high enough Midi-Chlorian count, they went ahead and permitted the favor. Duzel was 7 at the time.
Duzel had a love-hate relationship with the Jedi Order even at that age. As a young boy, he was naturally awed by it and excited to be a part of it, but at the same time, he felt like he was only there because his parents didn't want anything to do with him, and he saw his instructors and the other attendants the same as his Governesses- as nothing more than babysitters, and he proved himself to still be a handful, and an upstart.
After 2 years of training with other younglings, The Council was eager to shuttle Duzel out of the classroom environment, because they feared he was a distraction to the other younglings around him. The idea came about to suggest to Artaith, who was 19 at the time, to take him as her Padawan. They had been impressed by her performance so far, and believed that someone of her balanced temperament would finally reign in and have a positive influence on the boy. Privately, Artaith was hesitant, afraid she may not be able to handle the boy in the way The Council wanted and may appear a failure to them, and felt that regardless, she should wait a few more years until she was older until she could take on a padawan. But perhaps with some nudging and reassurance from her friends, she accepts.
Duzel responds very well to Artaith. Firstly, because all this time, he has really just needed someone to care enough to pay individual attention to him, and secondly, her approach. She doesn't try to strong-arm him into behaving or tell him constantly what a disappointment he is, like everyone else in his life always has. She allows him to be himself and emote ( within reason ), and she earns his undying respect and loyalty. In a way, that alone keeps him in line, because he is so concerned about her own goals that he would never do anything that would make her look bad in the eyes of The Council.

Thankies ^^ I have to admit, he's growing on me pretty fast. I think the reason why he always looks like that is because it took me sooooo many frigging sketches to get him to look right. I still struggle with drawing him-so he smirks at me as I draw him.
"Ha ha! Trying drawing this, betch!"
LOL.
His body isn't too difficult, something about getting his head and facial features just right trip me up with every damn drawing I do of him.
I love ratties, and I haven't had any new rat characters in a long time, so I figured that was the way to go, lol.

Aaaargh, I hate it when that happens. Why do some characters seem so reluctant to look right on paper? And I can see what you mean, and I think you did a wonderful job with him. 8D
Also his bio is just wonderful! 8D Gives him so much spunk and makes him surprisingly relateable, given his background. 8D

I angrily pencil-smashed my way through about 15 sketches, all, "YOU WILL LOOK THE WAY YOU DO IN MY HEAD!" before he began to resemble what I was envisioning. LOL. Just about every drawing of him starts out like crap, and then turns out decent, like this one:

I almost trashed it, but after fighting his head a little bit longer, I actually got it to go in the direction I wanted, lol.
I really wanted a character that was a polar opposite of Artaith. She is so mentally sensitive to The Force that she has to be careful with her emotions, in order to remain balanced. In a way, she relies on Duzel to express the things she cannot, and he almost becomes an extension of her.
He's actually become a lot of fun to write because his reaction to situations and his interactions with others provide a springboard for all kinds of possibilities.

You have a gift that's for sure. 8D And I like that you put so much effort into creating your characters. (I admit that I've recycled a bunch of mine for my Stur Wurhz story, and am still recycling some. Its fun, but I need more that are completely original, like Tok.)
You should post your writings! 8D (If you have and I've missed them, I o-pologize.) I looove reading fiction by others, I'm sure yours would be such a fun read!

Thank you ^^
The only full-length writings I have right now are for my "RR" related stuff. Right now the "Star Wars" stuff are just blurbs. Hoping to expand on that, though, and might be able to put up some snippets with art, since I already have some story situations in my head that I'm thinking of illustrating..

I love how this is just a character sheet, but you can already see exactly what his personality is like. The light grey will play nicely off of Artaith's warm colors. I am in love with his eyes and hair...I know you had an issue with the hair, but DON'T YOU DARE CHANGE IT! Oh my God, it looks so amazing. It's unique but fits well into the Star Wars universe. Why don't men ever have beehive type harstyles in Star Wars? All the women look like they come from motherfucking Whoville or something, but the men all seem to pick from three or four hairstyles...the Jedi Mullet seeming to be the most popular. I love the fact that yours is truly unique.
Wielder will play wiff his hair, making him angry. I can see this is going to be lots of fun. *works on commissions so she doesn't feel guilty about drawing fanart for joo*

LOL, yeah, I had always pictured him as a blue/grey rat. And I was so not sure about the hair thang at first, but now it is such a huge part of his personality- it makes him even more unique and goes to show how Artaith has allowed him to embrace being himself. Acceptance and attention are things he has needed since he was a child.
Yeah, I was thinking that last night, with that hair and his personality, a 'noogie' pic wasn't that far away, lol.
I'm sure he'd be a great personality for Wielder to play off of. They've both got that spark and a 'don't back down' attitude.
