“Thanks, Green, you were so helpful, and I really enjoyed this little bit of time we could spend together.” Buttercup entered her car, spun the wheel around to make a U turn and take the shortest route back to her home. Still recovering from the nuzzle Green watched her drive off. Buttercup beamed. “That was perfect! I think he might actually...”
Pop! Buttercup's car bumped, “What!?!” Before she could react, another bump and pop came from the rear.
Still watching Buttercup, green leaped into the air. As he suspected, she did a “U” turn, heading back down the road she had come from. “So you did drive out here just to be with me...” He thought. However, as he gained altitude, he noticed her driving straight toward a silvery object in the road. He heard a soft report as first her left front, then left rear tire ran over it.
“No, no, no!” thought Buttercup. She floored the accelerator, and the coupe's engine roared to life. “Maybe I can make it home before they go flat...”
The sudden boost of speed from the car surprised Green. He landed and picked up the horseshoe Buttercup had just run over, sure enough three nails still stuck through the shoe thick and sharp. Quickly he returned to the air, flying through the cloud of dust kicked up when the Yellow coupe sped up.
It was only a matter of time. Buttercup felt the tires getting softer on her side. She heard a steady Piff, piff, piff as the punctures were momentarily sealed by the ground, and then released as the tires rolled.
Green could see puffs of dust raised by the leaking tires as they rolled. Soon they softened, and sank, sidewalls bulged and rippled as air escaped. “Well, at least we'll have an equal number of repairs on both sides now.” The thought seemed too funny to Green who began to laugh.
Laughter came from overhead. “I told you we should have searched for that horseshoe!” The car started to lurch to the left as both tires deflated completely. Tears welled in Buttercup's eyes. “He probably thinks I'm a joke now!” She thought to herself. She took her hoof off the accelerator and allowed the car to limp to a halt.
Green touched down next to the limping vehicle. Still laughing a bit until he looked inside and saw the tears filling Buttercup's eyes.
Buttercup sniffed, her vision blurring. Suddenly she felt something incredibly soft touch her mouth, it was Green's wingtip. “It is ok, Buttercup, I'm here for you.” Gently, he wiped away her tears with his wingtips. “I-I don't know why you stick around me, I'm just some goofy green pegasus that nearly washed out of flight school. You were there for me at times it felt like nopony else was. Please don't cry, you're special. Sometimes, I feel too special for the likes of me.” Green could feel a lump growing in his throat. He swallowed hard to continue. “I volunteered for cloud patrol today, because I know what today is, and I really don't know how to ask you, so I kinda thought I'd hide... In the sky... Heh, that's really kinda stupid now that I say it out loud. So... I guess... Would you be my very special somepony, at least for...”
Green was cut off as Buttercup leaned in, nuzzling him hard on his cheek and neck.
