From a turbulent time in my love life, I originally drew it as part of an unspoken contest between me and someone over drawing hearts, but the meaning behind it arose as I worked on it.
The wood, symbolized tradition, I was a rather oldschool guy when it came to romance
The wood crumbling, symbolized both that I was losing that tradition, and that I felt I was losing my relationship.
The roses of course were the love itself.
The thorns, the emotional and mental issues that came with that particular relationship.
The vines re-finishing the heart on the bottom was my hope that the love would pull through everything.
I won the contest. And in the long run lost the girl.
