Couch Kitties: Cocktails For Two!
This "Couch Kitties" episode had its genesis when I was 12, poking about the basement of the family house. I came across an RCA Silver Label 45 RPM single of a song called 'Cocktails For Two' by Spike Jones and the City Slickers, with a further notation that the tune was a foxtrot or some such thing.
At the time, I was a mild fan of big band and the like, so I decided to give it a spin, and, indeed, was treated to a typical 1940s style pop tune.
Then, precisely 53 seconds into the song, all hell broke loose.
And I was permanently warped for life.
Anyhow, I got a note from
talwin the other day, politely enquiring if I took requests. It evolved that he was interested in a guest appearance with the Kitties.
Give the customers what they want, sez I...

The DEFINITIVE version of this song, I might add. :)
And as to the "foxtrot" part... Well... Today, one lists songs/MP3s with a beats-per-minute figure, sometimes, and that was a similar case back prior to "Sgt Pepper's", where the rhythm, for the sake of dancing, was noted as a waltz, foxtrot, or similar dance step. Most jazz was foxtrot at that time.
