Anyway, this started out as a piece of giftart for him that I was gonna go full on with the shades and highlights, but I figured since it was so unrefined, it would make for a good sample for what the sketches and flat colors would look like.
Anyway, I'm more than likely gonna attempt this, but not until later. So stay tuned.

It does look like vomiting, gotta level with ya. Just the color's about right. Lava has black over its surface because it cools on contact with the air instantly, with little cracks showing an inside glow. And when it falls, it can have little bits of fire flaring around it, which you may be attempting here. Fire is hard to depict - it is a dynamic thing, not one of the 3 forms of matter we're accustomed.
However, it's a gift to someone who likes it fine, so this is just critique for when you attempt lava eruption as a commission for someone commercially. This is not a really good advertisement for that, for this reason.
