Book 2 - Part 14 - to those of you following this story - thank you
seadragon and I have now begun the middle years of the Erlandia saga, and they are just as exciting and surprising.
More and more (even at my age) I begin to see just how complicated, and yet simple, life can be. Writing something that is historically based gives the author a reason to research that history. Life now is no less complicated than it was then, nor is it any less violent. We live in the present, so we tend to concentrate on that. The more I research, however, the more I understand that history truly does repeat itself.
There are reasons for everything, you just have to put yourself back in those times and then look at it through the eyes of then - not now.

Everyone should have the privilege of living another life as we have in the writing of this tale.

Your comments above are 100% correct. To really understand the "why" of the events of the past, they have to be viewed with the knowledge, attitudes and norms of the day. Even though "society" today claims to be "enlightened," their base instincts are still simmering below the surface, which is why, as you state, "history truly does repeat itself." I still have my prejudices but I'm not even aware that they're there because of the many positive life experiences I've had in my life. That is, until some moron's actions reinforce one or more of them. But that's their problem, not mine.
well said, and same here... I look at it like this - on an individual basis, I can get along with anyone. I've had this proved to me so many times over in my life. But when you get CROWDS of people, things, and rules change as those individuals become part of a mob.
