...and with good reason. You did hijack me and a truck, dumped me (and Fred) off at the Whackadoodle Inn, turned me into a Cat and exposed me to a predatory wolfess, not to mention Scratch, along with some tense domestic issues. Considering I have an invitation to return under more "normal" circumstances, I wouldn't mind following up on that offer at some point. Not that I'm bored or anything mind you ....
I remember a story in one of my English school books that had an underprivileged kid try to snatch an old woman's purse, unsuccessfully. Instead of calling the police or scolding him, she asks him why he did it. Baffled by the turn of events, the kid tells her he wanted to buy himself some new shoes (his were well worn out). His family didn't have money for that. She takes him to her home, feeds him a good lunch made of the same cheap food she can only afford herself. And they talk. She asks about his family, his life. He opens up and reveals his regret at doing something so stupid as trying to steal money for what he needed.
After lunch, they part ways but not before she hands him some cash to buy his shoes.
As a kid myself, that story stuck with me hard. Just because someone's stealing doesn't mean they're a bad person. Just because someone's old doesn't mean they're a pushover. A person's surface only counts for so much.
Your story should be in that English school book. It teaches the same lessons, but with a but more fuzz.
