If I was going to story/worldbuild, I'd say that the capacity for magic among mythical creatures like Inkh waned over time as technology reduced the need for magics and spells... as modern societal laws strictly prohibited the use of magic... to the point where mythical creatures are no longer as revered, magic and spellcraft no longer taught/trained... forcing mythical creatures into the standard workforce ;)
