You shouldn't underestimate radiation and nuclear explosion. Groundwater, winds - these are whole kilometers... And it's not just evaporation and precipitation. This is a banal water cycle in nature. And also vegetation, animals grab it. What are you going to eat? It's an infection of the whole food chain. And what if this stuff gets thrown at the neighbors who haven't done anything to you? And this is an extra reason for propaganda and a new enemy. And they probably won't care that it was necessary for you and that you were tortured. I may be wrong, but it's kind of short-sighted...
